The Laurel is an evergreen shrub or tree with alternate, sharply lanceolate, short stemmed, wavy-edged leaves that are bright green in colour and produce and aromatic scent by the essential oil bearing glands. It is well suited for shrubberies and hedges and as a tree for avenues in mild climates. since some laurels are unisex, male plants mist be grown with female to obtain berries.
