Murakumo is a type of variegated lacquer ware in which soot from a Japanese candle is applied to the surface where the top coat has been applied and has begun to dry, creating a black cloud-like pattern. The shimmering appearance of candle flame is expressed by Murakumo Nuri. The expression of the lacquer is different one by one, and no two pieces have the same pattern. It can be used not only for drinks, but also for dessert cups, soba-inokuchi (buckwheat noodle cup), etc. Yamanaka is a production center of wooden ware. Yamanaka lacquerware is also characterized by its high level of lacquering techniques. Each piece is carefully finished one by one, and the good thing about brush lacquering is that it is extremely pleasant to the palate. There are about 10 craftsmen in Yamanaka Lacquerware production area who can do hand lacquering, and only one of them can do Murakumo-nuri in Yamanaka Lacquerware. In order to promote the appeal of Yamanaka lacquerware, we produce lacquerware that we ourselves can offer with confidence and that we ourselves would like to use, advertise in various media, and conduct sales activities on a daily and ongoing basis. We feel that we need to create more opportunities for people to learn about the appeal of Yamanaka lacquerware and increase awareness of Murakumo-nuri.
