This design resulted from the coincidental convergence of two things: my inheritance of a collection of knitted and crocheted lace crafted by three generations of women in my family, and my watching, yet again, the 2005 film adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. One lace edging in the collection left me particularly curious—I had never seen the pattern as an edging before and knew that I had to incorporate it into a knitted shawl, which I envisioned draped around Jane's shoulders in her bliss after marrying Mr. Bingley. Finished Size 12" wide and 74" long. Yarn Halcyon Gemstone Soft Twist Silk (100% silk; 240 yd [219 m]/ 3 ½ oz [100 g]): #110 cream, 2 hanks. Needles Size 7 (4.5 mm).
