Fuel Injector - fuel injection system. 2.0L L-series turbo diesel. The injector is mounted in the cylinder head and fed with high-pressure fuel from the injection pump through its own delivery pipe. The nozzle opens at a set release pressure, atomises the charge into the combustion chamber and closes again as pump delivery falls, so both spray pattern and opening pressure depend on nozzle condition. Worn, sticking or leaking nozzles present as rough running, smoke and poor cold starting, and injectors are normally worked on as a set so delivery stays even between cylinders. Supplied less flylead. The injector sealing washer is renewed on refitting. Show more
