MSD designed this 8987 Start and Step Timing Control Box for racers running locked-out timing on streep/strip cars with slow engine cranks due to advanced timing or high compressio n. This handy controller lets you select a 5, 10, 15 or 20 degree of retard while the engine cranks to lessen the pressure and allow the engine to start easier. The Start and Step also features a single stage of retard that is ideal for nitrous engines. Easily connects to magnetic pickups, has a points input and also works on 4, 6 or 8-cylinder engines.
