Pinot Gris loves the cool climatic conditions of Central Otago. Here, it has produced a dry white wine with stone fruit aromas of peach and nectarine. These flavours carry through on the palate, adding ripe red apples and blossom. It's full, creamy and well textured, chased up with a grapefruit-driven finish. Boutique winery Mt Difficulty was an early pioneer in the region. With their founding vineyards established in 1992, Mt Difficulty owns some of the oldest vines and is one of the most respected producers in Central Otago. Situated on the famous Felton Road in Bannockburn, this is a unique and rare area of extremes. Mt Difficulty has harnessed this once brutal terrain to produce premium wines at the forefront of Otago's (and some say New Zealand's) finest wine production. The grapes for the wines that carry the Mt Difficulty Bannockburn label are subject to two strict criteria: they are managed by our viticultural team and must be sourced from Bannockburn vineyards - the south side of the Kawarau River in the southern Cromwell basin. Each has a specific terroir, largely influenced by climate, and offers a variety of soil types from open gravels to heavier clays. Mt Difficulty Bannockburn Pinot Gris is blended from several of our Bannockburn vineyards: Templars Hill, Station Block, Ferris, and Bannockburn Bay.
