Event Details: · Time: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm · Entry Fee: $40 · Location: 481 North Service Rd W A13, Oakville, ON L6M 2V6 What’s Included: · 3 play boosters from Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Prizing and Tournament Structure: · Prizes are awarded based on match wins, ensuring every player can earn rewards. · Example prizing: · 3-0 record (undefeated): 3 prize packs · 2-1 record (two wins, one loss): 2 prize packs · 1-2 record (one win, two losses): 1 prize pack · 0-3 record (no wins): No additional packs · This system encourages players to stay for all rounds, ensuring a fair and competitive event. Tournament Operations: · Visible timers ensure a fair and structured gaming experience for all participants. · Drafting Process: · Initial Setup: Each player starts with three booster packs, usually from the same set. Players sit in a circle to facilitate passing packs. · Opening Packs: Each player opens one booster pack, removes any tokens or marketing cards, and looks at the 15 cards inside. · Card Selection: Players pick one card and place it face down in front of them, then pass the remaining cards to the player on their left. This process is repeated until all cards from the first pack are chosen. · Second Pack: The second pack is then opened, with cards passed to the right. · Third Pack: The third pack is opened, and the passing direction switches back to the left. Building Decks: · Deck Construction: Once drafting is complete, players build a minimum 40-card deck using their drafted cards. Basic lands (Plains, Islands, Swamps, Mountains, and Forests) are provided as needed. · Deck Composition: Players usually aim for a 17-land, 23-spell balance.
