The Danfoss MTZ40-4VI is a specialized 3.33 HP reciprocating compressor engineered for medium to high evaporating temperature applications. Operating on 460V 3-phase power at 60Hz, this Danfoss Maneurop MTZ series unit utilizes POE oil, making it fully compatible with HFC refrigerants including R404A, R134a, R407C, and R507A. This model features a displacement of 4.14 in³/rev and is built with a large internal free volume to mitigate the risk of liquid slugging, a critical factor for long-term reliability in commercial refrigeration. The rotalock connections facilitate efficient field installation and maintenance. For contractors managing cold storage or process cooling, this hermetic reciprocating compressor provides the necessary volumetric efficiency and thermal stability required for demanding industrial cycles. Ensure proper superheat controller settings to maximize the performance of this industrial refrigeration compressor. Key Technical Benefits Refrigerant Versatility: Specifically designed to handle HFC refrigerants and synthetic polyolester oil for modern system requirements. Robust Liquid Handling: High tolerance for liquid return due to its large internal volume and durable valve plate design. Field-Serviceable Design: Standard rotalock valves and suction/discharge ports simplify retrofitting and repair. Thermal Protection: Internal motor protection ensures winding longevity under high-load conditions. Common Installation Questions What is the primary difference between the Danfoss MT and MTZ models? The MT model is designed for mineral oil and HCFCs like R22, while this MTZ40-4VI is charged with POE oil for HFC compatibility. Can this compressor be used for low-temperature applications? The MTZ series is optimized for medium and high boiling points; for dedicated low-temp racks, verify the saturated suction temperature stays within the manufacturer's envelope. Does this unit come with the electrical mounting kit? Most units include the standard terminal box and mounting hardware, but specific rotalock gaskets should be verified before heading to the job site.
