The mud kitchen arrives with a temporary water-based stain for transport protection only. Paint before assembly for best results and complete coverage of all surfaces. Recommended process: Apply minimum 2 coats of quality exterior primer, sealer and undercoat (Dulux 1 Step Prep recommended — provides mould resistance and stain blocking). Follow with minimum 2 coats of exterior-grade paint (Dulux Weathershield recommended). Use a brush rather than spray for better penetration into timber. Ensure complete coverage of all surfaces including edges and corners. Natural timber note: Timber may develop minor cracks and gaps over time due to natural expansion and contraction. This is normal and does not affect structural integrity. Cracks typically close once moisture returns. Proper painting significantly reduces this effect.
