In the United States, 80% of Indigenous women and girls experience violence in their lifetime. Native women and girls are 10 times more likely to be murdered than non-Indigenous people. In 2016, more than 5,700 Indigenous women were reported missing in the U.S., but only 116 cases were officially recorded in federal databases.
