Buddhawood oil (AKA “Mulacro” oil) is the steam distilled extraction from the Buddha Wood shrub (Eremophila mitchellii), a native Australian plant that is also known as false sandalwood or desert rosewood. Dark brown in colour, this viscous essential oil has a wonderfully soft woody smell with subtle traces of smoke and spice. It is effective in doses under 1% (though it could potentially be used in overdose) and it is a superb naturaliser and enhancer of all members of the Iso E Super family and amber materials. Blends of cinnamon leaf oil, muscade absolute and theaspirane are sublime and the oil works wonderfully with grapefruit and rhubarb notes. This is a highly deceptive material, seeming to be mild or ineffective but its ability to add velvety naturalness and luxury to wood synthetics is unparalleled. Great skill is required to use this oil to its fullest potential.
