Series : Wander Out Yonder Australian Budgerigars flying over the Pilbara landscape. "We took the long bumpy way to get to The Pilbara in the Mid West of WA in 2022. A bucket list trip that fulfilled us in every way. It took us into Karijini with our little caravan/art studio, and then we spent time on a station near by and got our fill of local bird life and the whole laid back lifestyle of Station life. Zebra Finches and Budgerigars in the wild, Spinifex Pigeons and all kinds of new plants and shapes to fill my brain - Bliss!" What was started as a quick and playful way to process the myriad of new shapes and the unfamiliar parts of the landscape after her first trip to The Pilbara, has now grown to become a series of joyful, naive images that tell us about this unique part of the world. The use of painted paper collage has meant a rekindling of Fi’s love for illustration and she hopes to put these works to good use as part of a childrens picture book in the near future, teaching kids about finding out where you belong, and how we need to celebrate that we are all different. Wander Out Yonder Series: This series has been created using painted paper collage. Fi first creates a mixture of colours and textured papers and then hand cuts the shapes, free hand, constructing the subjects from memory and sketchbook observations. She uses reference book photographs to correctly observe the birds she is studying. The original images are photographed and then reproduced. Nb The smallest size print fits straight into IKEA Sannaed square frames using the white mount included. The larger size (50c x 50cm) of frame can also be used for a budget framing of the largest size by adding a mount to fit - easily ordered from your local framer.
