The Story Behind The Art This artwork pays homage to the land and waters of Tallebudgera Creek and its surrounds. This includes the surrounding sites of significance; the creek, Jellurgal (Burleigh Headland), spiritual sites and Dreamtime connections, the natural landscape north, Burleigh Heads, and Palm Beach to the south. Central to this piece is the depiction of the annual mullet run. Large numbers of mullet fish moving together are known as the ‘mullet run’. Local Aboriginal people use seasonal indicators such as flowering plant species to predict when the best times to fish and gather mullet. Inland groups also travel to the coast during this time for ceremonial and social interaction. Tallebula prints are a reproduction of a one-of-a-kind original artwork. A signed A5 Certificate of Authenticity, which details the story behind the art, is provided with each print.
