This is a cross cut Murex shell with a blue/green flash labradorite cabochon set into it. The electroforming process has captured the details and imperfection of nature, while sealing the shell forever in a protective layer of copper. Designed by Mermaid Raven, then electroformed in pure copper and hand oxidized for a beautiful aged look. 3.5 inches tall by 2 inches wide. Labradorite is a feldspar mineral of the plagioclase series that is most often found in mafic igneous rocks. Some Labradorite exhibit a strong play of iridescent blue, green, red, orange, and yellow colors, sometimes called flash. Labradorite is so well known for these spectacular displays of color that the phenomenon is known as "labradorescence."
