Musc Doré (Golden Musk) is the first in a new Bertrand Duchaufour x Fraterworks trilogy, Les Trois Voiles. In French, voile holds three meanings at once — veil, sheer fabric, and sail — and each musk takes one: Musc Doré — the veil: a sheer golden veil of warmth drawn over the skin.Musc de Lin — the fabric: voile is the gauze-fine cloth woven from flax, clean air made textile.Musc d'Embruns — the sail: canvas wet with sea spray, carrying the skin into open air. Musc Doré is a warm golden skin musk with powdered facets. It bears an almost fougère-like structure which hints at Duchaufour's masterpiece Sartorial (2010) for Penhaligons. This is the scent of the golden hours at the close of day, the scent of warm skin, the scent of nostalgia. While Musk Doré, and indeed the other two members of the trilogy, can be used as the foundation upon which to construct a fragrance, it is, in itself, so elegant and complete that it can be simply overdosed and worn as-is.
