Only from Green Mountain Diapers. Sizes: (prices vary by size) Newborn (birth to 2 months or 12 lbs.) Dimensions 22.5" x 24" before washing, after washing about 20" x 21" Yellow edge stitch. Absorbency is just a bit more than a newborn prefold. One-Size (2 months to age 3) 28" x 30" before washing, after washing shrinks to around 27" x 28". Off-white edge stitch, absorbency is comparable to size medium red edge prefold. Large 33" x 35" before washing, after washing shrinks to around 31" x 30" inches. Brown edge stitch, comparable to size large prefold. All sizes are approximate. Shrinkage varies. Updated size newborn. Formerly they had orange edges and were long and narrow rectangles. Then we had green edge stitches. While green edge was still rectangular, they are closer to square at 20x22.5". Now we have yellow edge stitch newborn and these are about 1 inch narrower than the green edge where which makes them even closer to a square - which is what we are shooting for. Of course you can use a fastener but it works OK to wrap and tuck since a wrap style diaper cover put over it helps to hold it together. See more pictures. There are many ways to use these. If you don't love them as diapers, you have the best dish towels ever that will last for years and years. Size Newborn is the perfect dish drying towel. You can't go wrong owning a pack of flats. One-Size will work under size small or larger covers, but not tiny newborn or extra small covers, and will fit until potty learning. Size One-Size is about same size as our size Small/One-Size Birdseye Flat diaper, but this fabric is thicker so it is too much fabric for newborn babies. Our muslin is double woven which means it contains more cotton than typical muslins. You can feel the quality difference. Size Newborn, Neat Fold. This is a size One-Size on a newborn baby. Use a cover that is big enough to fit over all that diaper if you skip newborn size Muslin. Size one-size is a lot of diaper and quite bulky on a new baby. Most will prefer size newborn muslin at first. Newborn fits to around 12 pounds. Newborn muslin is more cotton (absorbency) than a newborn prefold but a bit less cotton than a small prefold. Size one-size is about the same amount of cotton as a size medium red edge prefold. They are substantial! Flats don't have any elastic or bumpy snaps or anything to disturb their comfort. See more pictures. What is it? The words muslin and gauze mean the same thing. These are double weave, not the single weave that the popular swaddle blankets are. "Double weave" means that it is basically two layers of cloth woven together on the same loom at the same time to form one thicker layer. That's an oversimplification of the weaving process, but you end up with one layer of thicker fabric than you do from single weaving, yet it is still a one-layer fabric. Thicker means more absorbent, yet since it is still one layer, it has a nice, soft hand. It washes and dries easily and quickly! This is another option for economical natural cloth diapering. It is like the made of organic unbleached Birdseye Flat Diapers in size One-Size. These muslin flats contain slightly more cotton so they are slightly more absorbent. The muslin (gauze) weave is a different weave, slightly thicker, than the birdseye weave, but they really are very similar. The absorbency is comparable to a size medium red edge prefold, whereas the Birdseye (Small/One-Size) is just bit less absorbent than these; closer to a size small yellow edge prefold or a bit more than a yellow edge small but less than a medium red edge prefold. These double weave muslin (gauze) will win in a side by side absorbency test. The birdseye is thus trimmer. So, that means that this muslin diaper in size One-Size is really too big on a newborn baby since it is bulkier, so that is why we offer size Newborn. Size Large is slightly less cotton than a size large brown edge prefold but noticeably more than a medium red edge prefold. We added size Large for those who like to use origami fold which, on older babies, needs a bigger flat to work. Just because we make a size Large doesn't mean everyone will need it. The size "one-size" can fit for duration - but it is nice to have options. Prepping: Since they are unbleached, please wash several times on hot before first use to prep them. The natural cotton oils present in unbleached cotton must be washed off in those first several hot washes before full absorbency is reached. Please do not try pinning or using Snappi Fasteners until your flats are fully prepped. The fabric is delicate until it's fully shrunk. Please avoid dryer balls or high spin cycles when prepping this fabric. Once they are prepped they are easy to wash and quick to dry. They work just like the Birdseye Diaper. See pictures.
