Original etching, 1919. Nauen was one of the original members of Die Brücke, (the Bridge), which was founded in 1905 by Erich Heckel, Ernst Ludwig Kirschner, and Karl Schmidt-Rottl uff. Nauen participated in most of the great exhibitions of the German Expressionists, including the 1907 exhibition of the Berlin Secession. Condemned by the Nazi's in the 1938 exhibition of Degenerate Art Nauen's work is deeply spiritual and extremely intense. Show more
