The Heritage Continues The M28—the world’s first "Tube-Like" FET microphone—is the latest release in our Heritage Range. It was meticulously engineered by the same legendary team behind the M1 Tube microphone: Eckehard Dux, Andreas Grosser, and Drew Myburgh. "If you have been following the development of the M28, you know we faced profound setbacks, most notably the passing of Andreas Grosser. Just weeks before he passed, Andreas and I completed a fully functional prototype. I am forever grateful for everything Andreas taught me, and deeply thankful that Eckehard and I were able to bring our final vision to completion. The M28 is extremely unique and is most definitely not a standard FET mic. Its tube-like FET design gives you access to both a traditional, clean FET sound and a classic tube character, making it a wonderfully versatile microphone. Originally, Andreas and I designed the M28 to be a cardioid-only mic. However, that changed when Eckehard and I decided to make it more flexible, ultimately implementing five polar patterns in the final design. Because switches on microphone bodies can often be a point of failure, we spent a long time searching for a highly durable switching system. We ultimately settled on miniature, front-panel stepped switches that fire upwards within the body." — Drew Myburgh A Legacy of Innovation In 2008, foreseeing a future where New Old Stock (NOS) VF14M tubes would vanish from the market, Andreas and Eckehard set out to create a reliable replacement for the heart of the iconic U47. The result was the acclaimed VF14EF tube. Our commitment to refinement hasn’t stopped since, and the M28 stands as the ultimate evolution of that precise engineering. What Sets Myburgh Apart? Unlike the vast majority of the microphone industry, we build from the ground up—custom-designing every circuit and mechanical component ourselves. Our microphones deliver a distinct sonic footprint and technical specifications unmatched by anything else on the market. Myburgh frequently hear producers and engineers say, "The vocal needs zero processing," "It sounds mixed right out of the box," or simply, "You’ve built the best microphone I’ve ever heard." If you are ready for a microphone that saves you time in the mix, delivers an absolutely massive sound, and commands a presence in your studio, contact us to book a demo.
