At full strength myrac aldehyde is waxy and overwhelming, but at working dilution it opens into something fresh, clean, and faintly floral — like standing outdoors on a bright morning. The citrus character is more orange than lemon, with an ozonic, marine quality underneath. It smells very different at 10% than it does neat. It extends citrus top notes well into the heart of a composition, maintaining orange-like brightness alongside materials that would otherwise be left without citrus support. In muguet accords it contributes a clean, green brightness. In marine compositions the ozonic facet adds outdoor realism. Bergamot, lemon oil, and hydroxycitronellal are natural companions on the citrus-floral side. For marine accords, hedione and dihydromyrcenol amplify the clean-air quality. Cedarwood and Iso E Super in the base give its brightness a woody foundation to rest upon.
