About the artist: Tara Cox is an Alaskan artist born and raised in Anchorage. Her work is the result of multiple years of professional training, including a B.F.A. in painting, and daily artistic practice. Her goal is to produce a series of portals to mystical sanctuaries, combining the already magical landscapes of Alaska with bigger-than-life wildlife. Her work is a distillation of the influences of her life; Alaska and its magnificence, animals, mythology, fairytales, Eighties and Nineties animation, Renaissance art, and a touch of surrealism and humor.
