The N95 Qualitative Respiratory Mask Fit Test is a process for ensuring that individuals are fitted with the appropriate mask to protect them from airborne transmissible contaminants. Mask fit tests are conducted annually to provide wearers with specifically fitted masks for use in their designated workplace. Examples of professionals who require mask fitting include healthcare professionals, such as nurses working in direct patient care settings. The masks available for fitting include the 3M N95 1870+, 1860, and 1860S. Prior to the fitting: Do not eat or drink (except water) for 15 minutes prior Do not smoke for 15 minutes prior Shave to remove any facial hair to ensure a proper seal of the mask to your face Upon Completion: A Qualitative N95 Mask Fit Test certification will be issued that’s valid for 1 year.
