Nakhon is a wild Khao Yai oil, and wild Khao Yai is now extremely rare to find at any quality. The source regions have been essentially stripped of their oud wood over a long perio d, and what remains in collector hands tends to stay there. This particular bottle is almost ten years old, drawn from a holding we have kept in reserve for the right moment. From the dipstick, Nakhon delivers that beautiful, mesmerising sweet jungle note — the lifted sweetness layered over green that the very best Kyara-style oils have always been able to produce. On the skin, the composition becomes a haze of green sweet incense, slightly spiced, slightly earthy. Not barnyard, not leather; something quieter and altogether older. The smell of soft fresh earth, of the forest floor in the early morning before anyone has walked across it. A primordial scent that connects directly to the older parts of the brain. There is also a sweet hay nuance in the composition — and not the unpleasant wet, grassy hay that emerges when an oil breaks down on the skin. This is genuinely sweet hay, the kind of note that, if a sweet hay absolute existed in the perfumer's repertoire, you would assume had been added as an ingredient. But of course, this is pure. There are no additives. The hay, the earth, the green, the spice — all of it is the wood, given time. We have priced Nakhon as fairly as we can given what it is. Stock is finite.
