The Naniwa Professional line of whetstones have long been regarded as the premier line of Japanese sharpening stones. They are fast cutting, hard wearing, provide good feedback and dish slowly - all the qualities that a good sharpening stone should possess. There aren't really too many downsides to stones like these and we trust they will serve you well for decades to come. To clear up any confusion, the Professional series is equivalent to the Chosera series (Japan Market) and the Chocera Pro series (US market). The stones have the same formulation with the same great properties. The main difference comes down to the packaging. Naniwa stones are also known to run finer than their grit rating suggests, to ensure a fair comparison with stones from other brands, do take note to round up the grit numbers to compensate for this difference.
