This fascinating specimen is clearly of considerable age judging by its accompanying turned wooden plinth and black wax mount. The specimen is currently detached from this stand, b ut it should not prove too difficult for it to be remounted. With a slightly branching form the Native Silver is largely coated in dull grey-black Acanthite. To add to its wonder, this piece is from the famed historic silver-mining town of Freiberg in Saxony, Germany, where one of the world's first mining schools was founded. Ex Martin Bohaty Collection.
