Nature’s Generator 50A Compact Automatic Transfer Switch The Nature’s Generator 50A Compact Automatic Transfer Switch provides automatic, hands-free switching between utility power and a compatible backup power source. Designed for homes, RVs, yachts, cabins, and off-grid power systems, this compact ATS helps maintain dependable power without requiring manual source switching during an outage. Unlike a transfer switch with a built-in distribution panel, this compact model connects directly to an existing compatible electrical system. Its panel-free design provides greater installation flexibility while taking up less space—an excellent solution for applications where a separate breaker panel is already installed. The transfer switch supports up to 50 amps and can be configured for 120V, 120/208V, or 120/240V AC systems. It works with many compatible solar generators, battery backup systems, inverters, grid-tie inverter systems, and conventional fuel-powered generators, provided the connected equipment meets the transfer switch’s voltage, current, and operating requirements. Professional installation by a licensed electrician is required. The electrician must confirm generator compatibility, conductor sizing, grounding and bonding requirements, overcurrent protection, and compliance with all applicable local and national electrical codes. Indoor-Rated Enclosure: Heavy-duty enclosure is designed for protected indoor installation. Home, RV and Marine Applications: Suitable for properly designed residential, recreational vehicle, yacht, cabin, and off-grid electrical systems. Certified Construction: Certified to UL 1008 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 178.1 safety standards. Five-Year Limited Warranty: Backed by Nature’s Generator’s five-year limited warranty. Automatic Backup Power Without Manual Switching When the preferred power source becomes unavailable, the ATS automatically transfers the connected electrical load to the available backup source. When the preferred source returns and meets the system’s operating requirements, the switch manages the return transfer according to its configured operation. This eliminates the need to manually move plugs or operate a conventional manual transfer switch during a power interruption. The connected backup generator, inverter, or battery system must be powered on, available, and properly configured for automatic backup operation. Compact, Panel-Free Installation This model is an automatic source-transfer device and does not contain branch-circuit breaker spaces. It is intended to work with an existing compatible electrical panel or distribution system. This makes it especially useful for RVs, boats, cabins, off-grid systems, and residential installations where a separate breaker panel is already present. Customers who need a transfer switch with spaces for individual branch-circuit breakers should select a compatible Nature’s Generator automatic transfer panel instead. Manual Override and Centralized Control A supplied manual override handle allows the transfer mechanism to be operated manually when needed. The viewing window and centralized interface make it easier to inspect switch status, test the installation, and manage the connected power sources. Ideal Applications Residential battery-backup installations Solar-generator home integration Off-grid cabins and remote properties RV shore-power and generator switching Yachts and compatible marine electrical systems Battery inverter and utility-power switching Gas-generator backup systems Existing panels that do not require a second branch-circuit subpanel Technical Specifications Manufacturer Nature’s Generator Product Type Compact Automatic Transfer Switch Model / SKU NGA05030000N Maximum Current 50A Supported System Voltages 120V L-N; 120/208V; 120/240V AC System Frequency 50Hz / 60Hz Operation Automatic transfer with manual override Branch-Circuit Panel Not included; integrates with an existing compatible panel Installation Location Indoor only Dimensions 12.5 × 10 × 4.75 inches (317 × 254 × 122 mm) Weight 19 lb (8.67 kg) Safety Standards UL 1008 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 178.1 Warranty 5-Year Limited Warranty What’s Included 1 × Nature’s Generator 50A Compact Automatic Transfer Switch 1 × Manual override handle 1 × Jumper cable 4 × Isolation pads 1 × User manual Important Installation Information This transfer switch must be installed by a qualified, licensed electrician. The unit is designed for indoor installation and is not listed as a NEMA 3R or NEMA 4 outdoor enclosure. This compact model does not provide branch-circuit breaker spaces. The connected generator or inverter must be capable of operating with an automatic transfer switch. Automatic transfer does not necessarily start a portable generator unless that generator has its own compatible automatic-start system. Do not exceed the transfer switch’s 50A rating. The installer must verify voltage, frequency, phase configuration, grounding, neutral switching requirements, and local code compliance before energizing the system. Frequently Asked Questions Does this transfer switch change power sources automatically? Yes. It automatically transfers the connected load from the preferred source to an available backup source when the preferred source is lost. The backup source must be powered, available, and properly configured. Does the ATS automatically start my generator? Not necessarily. The ATS automatically transfers the electrical load, but the generator must support its own compatible automatic-start system if unattended generator starting is required. Confirm this capability with the generator manufacturer before installation. Can it work with a solar generator or portable power station? Yes, it can work with compatible battery-powered and solar generators when their output voltage, frequency, current capacity, grounding arrangement, and automatic-transfer capabilities meet the system requirements. Compatibility must be verified before installation. Is it limited to Nature’s Generator power systems? No. Nature’s Generator states that it can work with other generator and inverter brands when the connected source remains within the ATS electrical specifications and is designed for transfer-switch operation. Does it support both 120V and 240V systems? Yes. It supports properly configured 120V, 120/208V, and 120/240V AC systems. Does it include circuit breakers or a subpanel?
