About Ndebele: “The Ndebele, Zimbabwe’s second-largest ethnic group, live mostly in the southwestern parts of the country—especially in Matabeleland. They speak IsiNdebele, a language related to Zulu. Their ancestors migrated from South Africa in the 19th century under the leadership of King Mzilikazi, a former general of Shaka Zulu” (Taken from Shona and Ndebele People – Culture, History & Traditions of Zimbabwe). “The Ndebele people are an ethnic group located primarily in southern Africa, particularly in Zimbabwe and parts of South Africa. Their history is deeply intertwined with the broader narrative of colonization in the region, notably during the late 18th and 19th centuries when European settlers sought control over valuable resources.
