The night of July 13th 2020 was without a doubt one of the most magical nights I’ve ever spent out under the stars. I was stargazing from less than a couple hours outside of my hom e city of Vancouver, enjoying a spectacular naked-eye view of Comet Neowise stretching across the northern sky. The scene was taken to the next level when the Aurora showed up, “photobombing” my shot. I first noticed the Aurora as a purple smudge on my image, and for a brief moment wondered if it was a lens flare or similar artifact. Pointing my camera to the north revealed a beautiful green glow on the horizon. Shortly after, the intensity of the Aurora increased, and pillars of light were clearly visible to the naked eye, dancing across the northern horizon. Show more
