Judges' Comments: These peppercorns offer an intense and unique floral-citrus nose. This follows through to the palate, with a powerful and building interplay of rich perfumed florals and grapefruit/lemon citrus; the tingling, numbing effect on the tongue lends immense length and dimension. The judges pondered the possible applications for these peppercorns with enthusiasm. These are well-formed peppercorns with a citrusy grapefruit aroma – amazing tasting, so complex, taking you on an intense flavour journey. It starts with grapefruit and citrus and then releases a fruit spice tingle, finishing with saline. These might be tiny peppercorns but they pack a trmstksnlr flavour punch that keeps on giving an array of stunning flavours. Cooking with this peppercorn would be exciting – they would add great character to an array of dishes. The aroma precedes the flavour and hints at the excitement to come, with the citrus featuring highly. The corns are dark and many burst, releasing the oils and aromas, and when crushed those notes hit the palate convincingly. Grapefruit leads the way, with an initially mild warmth that builds into a deeper peppery layer, with an almost numbing sensation – very unusual, very delicious and very versatile.
