The Neue Schule Turtle Top with Flex is a cutting-edge, double-jointed bit designed with the horse’s anatomy in mind. Inspired by the shape of the Box turtle’s shell, the Turtle Top link features a flattened dome-shaped link that reduces palate pressure and prevents the bit from being pushed upwards by the horse’s tongue. This innovative design ensures the bit stays stable in the horse’s mouth, providing more comfort and consistent contact, especially for horses that tend to be fussy or reactive to traditional bits. One of the key features of the Turtle Top with Flex is its ability to optimize the alignment of the bit’s surfaces with the horse’s tongue and palate. The Flex design concept ensures that the mouthpiece remains parallel with the horse’s sensitive surfaces, helping to reduce discomfort while promoting better communication between horse and rider. For some designs, the Flex also allows for a controlled application of additional pressure on the tongue and poll, using a slight lever action to achieve a firmer yet fair contact. This controlled pressure is limited to about 10 degrees of rotation, ensuring the horse remains comfortable while still allowing the rider to fine-tune their aids. The FlexZ is a development of Neue Schule’s popular Tranz range. It features gently curved cannons that form a wide arch over the tongue, securely held in place by the Turtle Top. This design prevents the bit from being pulled through the mouth and helps keep it centred and stable. FlexZ Eggbutt This innovation is brilliant in helping to achieve a comfortable and quiet mouth. Turtle TopTM with Flex keeps the mouthpiece centred and arched over the tongue at all times, encouraging relaxation. This comfortable mouthpiece is also useful in re-focusing the inattentive mouth back onto the rein aids in order to achieve a soft consistent contact. It’s also good for training / dressage as it gives the rider greater shoulder control on a circle and helps set up the bend when changing the rein or with lateral work. The stability the Eggbutt offers along with the clever design of mouthpiece often proves useful when working towards a consistent more even contact.
