This carbon has been sourced from the creators of the Nevermore Project primarily used in Voron Printers as a fume filter to remove ABS/ASA fumes, and other 3D Printing particulates (VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds)) It is a premium activated 4mm carbon pellet specifically chosen for the Nevermore range of activated carbon filters. 8% off for existing customer who previously purchased nevermore (use "NEVERMORE" at checkout) These carbon pellets can be used for a variety of other uses as well. 335g of carbon is included in each bag however 800 ml is a more suitable measurement. Carbon density differs widely and if you are comparing it to other carbon with weight, this carbon will seem a lot more expensive when in reality, you get what you pay for! Nevermore Scorch is an evolved filtration material specifically designed to improve performance for heated 3D printing chambers. Normal Activated Carbon (including Nevermore) loses efficiency at certain temperatures (typically over 60C you will see a significant drop in performance). Scorch adds heat resistance and also filters out more of the VOCs when mixed together with Nevermore Carbon. Please note, the activated carbon helps but no product on the market today completely removes VOCs - please continue to follow safe printing habits. Optimal Carbon/Scorch/Notus Ratios for Temperature Ranges: Below 35°C: 90% Carbon / 10% Scorch / Notus 40°C ± 5°C: 75% Carbon / 25% Scorch / Notus 50°C ± 5°C: 50% Carbon / 50% Scorch / Notus 60°C ± 5°C: 25% Carbon / 75% Scorch / Notus Above 65°C: 100% Scorch Boost XL- 50% scorch 50% carbon (Pre-Mixed) Zephyr - 60% Notus / 40% Boreas (Pre-Mixed) Notus / Scorch - Activated alumina beads infused with potassium permanganate, often listed as 8% KMnO₄ , Chemisorption/oxidation: it does more than just “hold” some contaminants; it can chemically react with certain gases Nevermore Carbon is the best activated carbon for 3D printer use the project has found after speaking to most major, vetted suppliers, offering benzene adsorption of up to 48 wt%, surface area of 1250 and CTC value of 80. A portion of our purchase has supported the Nevermore project. Specifications (Nevermore Standard) CTC: 80 (adsorption efficiency) Surface area: 1250 (filtration duration) Benzene adsorption: up to 48wt% (known ABS VOC adsorption efficiency) Density: 420 g/L (lighter is better) Hardness: >98 (harder is better, less dust generation) Porosity: Microporous (optimal printer VOC adhesion) How much carbon do Nevermore Filters require? How often should I replace carbon in my nevermore Filter? Activated carbon depletes in room air in 1-2 months because there’s a ton of VOCs in room air. The printer VOCs we are trying to catch is like 1/1000. So if there were just printer VOCs to catch, even fish carbon would last many months. But the thing is, depending on the printer seal, it’s mostly room air that depletes the filter. If outside air doesn’t get into the printer a single cartridge would easily last 3 months. If running in an enclosure circulating a lot of room air through it, you can start smelling ABS as early as 20hrs in a V4 if placed under a heated bed (the hotter the intake, the poorer the VOC adhesion). In a V0 with decent sealing, I would think a cartridge of good carbon quality would work well for several weeks even if printing 24/7. V5 says 50hrs print time on the lid. It’s a guesstimate based on average no-name carbon under a hotbed in a pretty leaky printer. So should always be at least that. Is this the coconut butter type? Nope - It’s a premium anthracite with similar porosity (as compared to coconut), but with a bit wider pore range (both smaller and bigger - should work somewhat better catching larger molecules such as BPA in ASA) Please note, the activated carbon helps but no product on the market today completely removes VOCs - please continue to follow safe printing habits.
