'Walking Through Guildford' turns a busy English high street into a warm square of movement and stone, shoppers threading between the historic buildings of the Surrey town. Nigel C ooke paints it in his signature mixed-media style, drips and layered marks giving the cobbles, frontages and figures a lively, weathered glow. While Cooke is best known for London, Paris and New York, his English townscapes show the same affection for places where people gather and move. He works the surface for atmosphere first, letting texture and gesture suggest the bustle rather than spelling out every detail. At bradburyART we are Northern Ireland's stockist for Nigel Cooke.
