Tash Damjanovic is a Toronto-based fine art photographer whose work explores the tension between speed and stillness, density and solitude, surface and depth. Rooted in the lived experience of urban life, her images transform cityscapes into contemplative spaces where meaning emerges through pauses, traces, and thresholds. Through a painterly visual language and, in recent works, alternative photographic processes, she creates photographs that feel both intimate and expansive, balancing material texture and colour with emotional quiet. A Skyline To Breathe In "was taken at a time that felt like the weight of life had lifted for a while. During this reprieve, I had a peculiar feeling that I was floating through life, unmoored, and was reminded that the world could feel light and colourful again. I have previously associated night with darkness, quiet, and fear. In this series, the night reveals the city in full splendor. These images do not deny the chaos and exhaustion of urban life; instead, they uncover a softer, more luminous layer within it. Standing in front of them, the viewer can pause, breathe, and experience the city not as a place of constant demand, but as a site of unexpected serenity and wonder".
