This painting was all about a block of colour shining out from the night. The orange sits under some brown, as the painting moves from dark to light. The original painting is varni shed with a very high gloss to emphasis this. The high textures in the paints also result in parts of the painting glowing from the darkness in different places, depending where the light source is at the time.
