The Edna Valley in San Luis Obispo County Coast boasts the longest growing season of any appellation in the state. With both daytime and nighttime temperatures moderated by proximity to the coast and influence of maritime fog, this 2021 Chardonnay enjoyed a very long and temperate growing vintage. The resulting hangtime allowed maximum flavor development in the skins as well as retention of a crisp acid beam which carries the typical Chardonnay marker flavors of apple, pear, and lychee through from start to an extended finish. Crisp and refreshing, yet enough flavor and volume to stand up to medium weight dishes and sauces. Winemaker Tony Leonardini opted for a small percentage of neutral oak aging on the wine to preserve the freshness and let the pure fruit flavors shine unadulterated.
