Nocturne is a puzzly spatial bidding and set-collection game set in a whimsical moonlit forest illustrated by Beth Sobel.You play as a fox mystic casting magic spells to collect an assortment of enchanted items, competing against rival mystics and deciding when to cast your most powerful spells to move through the forest cunningly and secure the best collection. Through two rounds (twilight and moonlight), players compete to collect the strongest sets of magical items — firebird feathers, creature skulls, glowing mushrooms, mysterious eggs and rare herbs — which score when collected in sets or combined to fulfil concoction recipes for even more prestige.Each round you begin with numbered tokens representing your spell strengths, used to cast spells and bid on a grid of items on the forest floor. Cast a spell and your rivals may cast a stronger one on an adjacent item to compel it towards them. As the forest is explored, conditions restrict pathways, leading to clever 'corner casting' to secure multiple items with weaker spells. Variable goals, concoctions and player abilities mean no two games play out the same.This Kickstarter Edition includes the Midnight Mini-Expansion.
