About the Image We"ve chartered an old-fashioned saloon boat and are taking a trip down the river "Vecht." My childhood home was located along this river. What a joy, we glide past my parents" old house with its beautiful garden. And look, there is the tea-house where I played with my girlfriends. We were five years old - "who dares to climb on!?" Sure enough, firmly gripping the window ledges we would shuffle high above the water to the other side of the tea-house. It's probably a good thing my mother never saw me do this! Back then my world consisted of the garden, my dolls, rabbits, the swing next to the raspberry bushes, flowers, the chicken coop and the path that ran between the apple- and pear trees to the river. During the late evening hours as I lay in bed with the window open I could hear the call of the Eurasian coot across the water, as well as some ducks and the Great crested grebe. And here we are quite a few years later, floating along the river, watching the grebes carrying their young on their backs. The ducks and coots are also still here. It's as if time stood still. These are my roots, the inspiration for everything I"ve done in life.
