Not Alone is an asymmetric science-fiction bluffing and deduction game for 2–7 players in which one player becomes the Creature hunting a team of stranded explorers across the alien world of Artemia. The Hunted secretly choose locations, manage their dwindling options, and cooperate long enough for rescue to arrive, while the Creature studies their habits and predicts where they will go next. Built around hidden choices, hand management, deduction, and one-versus-many tension, Not Alone creates the kind of table where simply choosing a card can feel like trying not to breathe while something listens outside the door. Artemia Is Learning Your Habits At first, the planet feels enormous. You have places to hide, abilities to exploit, and plenty of confidence that the Creature cannot possibly know where everyone is going. Then your discarded Place cards begin piling up. Your options become visible. The Creature starts noticing patterns. Suddenly the location that looked perfectly safe three turns ago feels painfully obvious, and the entire table is debating whether that makes it safe again. If your group enjoys tense one-versus-many games where reading people matters as much as reading the board, Not Alone is a highly interactive sci-fi survival game driven by bluffing, deduction, simultaneous hidden choices, and clever hand management. The remastered 10th-anniversary edition also expands the survival puzzle with an alternate contaminated environment that pushes the Hunted to cooperate even more carefully. Reaching rescue is no longer enough if the planet has already gotten inside you. How the Game Works Each round, the Hunted secretly choose a Place card representing where they will explore on Artemia. They can discuss plans, misdirect the Creature, and try to spread out, but each player ultimately commits to a location face down. The Creature then places Hunt tokens on the locations where it believes the explorers are hiding. Everyone reveals simultaneously. Hunted players who escaped detection can activate useful location abilities, while anyone caught may lose Will, suffer additional effects, or help push the Creature closer to assimilation. The real pressure comes from your hand. Used Place cards remain visible in your discard pile, gradually narrowing the choices the Creature knows you still have. You can spend precious Will to recover locations, but doing so creates its own risk. Every round becomes a psychological contest between choosing the tactically useful location and choosing the location your opponent least expects. The Hunted win by surviving until the Rescue track reaches safety. The Creature wins by advancing the Assimilation track first. The additional contamination-focused game adds another layer to that race by making the condition of the survivors matter when rescue finally arrives. Why You’ll Love It A genuinely asymmetric one-versus-many game where the two sides think in completely different ways. Bluffing comes from actual strategic choices rather than simply lying convincingly. Visible discarded cards give the Creature increasingly useful information as the game progresses. Simultaneous location selection keeps turns quick while creating excellent reveal moments. The Hunted must cooperate without becoming predictable. The Creature rewards players who enjoy pattern recognition, deduction, and getting inside their friends’ heads. The alternate contamination-focused experience adds fresh pressure for experienced groups. Compact card-driven systems create far more tension than the rules weight suggests.
