Stefanie Dueck’s Notch Chopsticks are forged by hand, one set at a time, in her workshop on the eastern shore of the Strait of Georgia in Western Canada. Sculpted in solid stainles s steel, their hand-hewn, brutalist form is at once both functional tool and modern sculpture. Each pair begins with Stefanie carving her signature Notch at the top before tapering the shafts downward—one hammer mark at a time—until slim, precise tips stand ready for the meal du jour. Solid and balanced in the hand, they carry each bite with steady purpose. Every pair includes a loose-fitting, polished stainless steel slip case in which the chopsticks rest while on break. Show more
