The Cable Test Adapter is used for single-ended cable testing. When you do not have access to the far end of a cable to loop back into the MR-PRO (e.g. cable is installed in a buil ding), install the Cable Test Adapter at the far end of the cable, the MR-PRO will be able to complete its cable test procedure and display cable condition.
