Nwanyi Study (2021) is part of Chiizii’s NNI BU OGWU (Food Is Medicine) thesis. Drawn on brown kraft paper, the work forms part of her research process, in which she interprets key elements of her study through her personal drawing style, inflecting her signature to create a distinct visual language. The study is inspired by the movement of Igbo women’s dance, often performed at celebrations, particularly those honoring the new harvest, such as the New Yam Festival. The piece highlights the intersection of Igbo food, cultural performance, and artistic expression. The composition depicts the back of a woman in mid-dance, accompanied by a palm tree, capturing motion and cultural context.
