In strong sun the pink edging on the white petals shows clearly; in shade the flower reads as plain white. This is a cultivar that rewards the brightest spot in the pond. The same light rule applies indoors, only it is harder to meet. The plant will grow in a tank of 20 gallons and up, but flowers need sun-like intensity over a long day to appear at all, and the pink tipping needs that light again to show. Below it you get dark green pads — which arrive fast and want trimming often to keep the surface open. Sweetly fragrant, and the scent draws bees and butterflies — worth siting near where people sit rather than at the far edge. Dark green foliage gives strong contrast against the white blooms, which is much of the effect. Tropical, so it cannot overwinter in a freezing pond.
