The Westminster is a traditional design with cottage character: an arched lead double-glazed panel above a decorative grooved panel, in a warm American white oak face. About the Westminster An arched lead double-glazed panel gives the Westminster its period charm, set above a decorative grooved panel below. It is a natural fit for cottages and traditional homes, and the oak-veneered face carries an even, warm grain that takes an oil or stain beautifully. Engineered oak construction The Westminster is an American white oak veneer over a solid engineered core, dowel jointed for strength. The engineered core keeps the door stable through the seasons and resists the warping and twisting solid timber can suffer on an exposed elevation, while the oak face keeps genuine oak character. It is supplied sanded but unfinished, ready to seal in your chosen finish, and can be trimmed to fit the opening. Glazing The Westminster is supplied pre-glazed, with its factory lead double-glazed unit already fitted, so there is no separate glazing to arrange. The leaded sealed unit brings period character and the insulation of double glazing to the entrance. Finishing & Care Made for outdoor use but best fitted in a sheltered spot, under a porch or canopy, rather than fully exposed to driving rain or strong sun. As it is supplied unfinished, protect every face and edge with a treatment made for external doors before it is hung; we recommend the Impranol range for external doors. Oak Weather Bar We also supply an Oak Weather Bar to match, which will be needed if the door is open to the elements. It is sold separately, as not every doorway needs one, for example a door set within an enclosed porch. View our Oak Weather Bars. Our external doors must be treated before being hung, retreated every six months and kept dry at all times through the use of a canopy or similar. For full guidelines, please visit our External Door Protection Page. Key Product Information American white oak veneer face: a warm, even oak grain, ready to oil or stain.
