VERDANDE Verdande is a true 2-way reference design developed to bring musical enjoyment to the listener, backed with monumental dynamics. We took the concept of our Award-Winning and Product of the Year loudspeaker model Icon, made it larger and took the performance to a completely new level. Designing a truly High-End 2-way loudspeaker of this size and caliber is no small task. Without the typical “horn-sound” or ever being harsh or unpleasant. It’s very detailed, and whether you play at moderate volumes or at concert levels it never changes characteristics. The Woofer We had to develop our own 38 cm (15”) driver to take over the frequency range below the compression driver and horn combination. This driver took a long time to perfect, but we did it… and we are mighty proud of it too! First of all, this driver has an almost scary clean distortion profile and generous linear stroke. But at the same time, it has some capabilities that really help us make that crucial midrange sound just right. The Crossover Some say the crossover is the heart of the speaker, others say it’s the brain. We say that it’s both. A crossover has two main functions. One is to control the acoustic response of the drivers, the other, which of course is linked very closely to the first, is to give the speaker its character. We design the crossovers to get the best performance out of every speaker. Many designers claim that one topology is superior to another, which in our opinion is not only false, but it limits the possibilities to get the best sound out of a specific design. The crossover was designed with the help of modern measurement and simulation tools with numerous listening sessions during the process. Verdande is designed to work in real-world listening environments, not to just measure well in controlled environments. The enclosure is a vital part of the end-result. The Verdande enclosure is meticulously designed to be the best possible housing for the drivers and other components. Both acoustically and mechanically. It's a resonance-free design which is strategically damped and braced. We offer the enclosure in different Matte and High Gloss finishes. The Feet The beautiful polished Stainless-Steel feet are not just for looks. The lower part of the feet is mechanically decoupled from the rest with ceramic balls to counter vibrations to and from the floor.
