The Obsidian Rift Ring is a wide sterling silver band split by a jagged crevasse that runs through the center of the ring. A line of black cubic zirconia is set along the floor of the split, so the break itself carries the stones rather than a raised setting. The surface on either side is left rough and faceted like broken rock, with no smoothed edge anywhere on the band. The design takes its cue from volcanic obsidian caught in a cliff face, which makes it a piece of geology rather than iconography, with no symbolic or religious content.
