Oceaniopteris gibbaOceaniopteris gibba grows as one remarkably symmetrical crown, not as a colony of separate fern shoots. Bright-green fronds radiate from a single central point, their many narrow leaflets giving the rosette a crisp, feathered outline.At first the plant can appear almost stemless. The base slowly rises into a short upright stem, creating a miniature tree-fern silhouette as the plant develops.The crown usually keeps one central growing point while expanding to roughly 1 to 2 m overall in mature, favourable growth. Spore-producing fronds look distinctly narrower than the ordinary foliage when they appear. Their slim leaflets carry two long dark lines underneath, one on each side of the central vein. This gives these fronds a noticeably finer texture than the broad green crown.
