The species is native to the Malaysian state of Sabah, located in northeastern Borneo, and to the northern tip of Kalimantan Timur (East Kalimantan), one of the four Indonesian pro vinces on the island. It has been recorded in various localities in Sabah, including Bettotan, Sandokan, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Tawau, Kudat, and Bongon. In Kalimantan Timur, it is known only from the Sebuku River basin.
