A Clean Return on an Outside Angle A 152 x 30mm glazed ceramic trim with a rounded face, made to wrap the outside angle of a tiled wall in matching colour: the Artworks Ochre External Corner Trim, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist. An external angle is the most exposed part of any tiled wall and the first place damage shows. Left as two cut edges meeting at ninety degrees it presents a sharp arris that catches sleeves, vacuum cleaners and shins, and chips at the glaze the moment it does. This trim replaces that arris with a rounded glazed nose: 30mm wide, fully finished on the curve, and glazed in the same ochre as the tiling either side so the corner disappears into the scheme rather than being outlined in metal. It comes into its own on a chimney breast, a boxed-in soil pipe, a window reveal or the end return of a splashback — anywhere the tiling has to turn out of the room towards you. Internal angles are treated differently: there is no internal counterpart in the Ochre range, so where two tiled walls meet in a corner the tiles are simply butted and the joint grouted, which is the standard ceramic detail and needs no special piece. Worth pricing the external trim by the running metre of outside angle before the tiling starts, as it is easy to overlook at the estimate. A brilliant white grout picks the corner out in bright outline against the ochre — precisely the opposite of what the piece is for. Layout: Fix the trim to the corner first and tile up to it from both faces, keeping the joints in line with the wall courses. Where two tiled walls meet on an internal angle, butt the tiles and grout the joint. Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers, which will dull the surface over time. Visit Our Ascot Showroom Usually in stock.
