In her photographic work, she explore the intersection of nature, isolation, and human presence through the lens of Canada’s iconic ice huts. In 2021 Sarah began to photograph the ice huts on her local lake as a creative and physical outlet. These small structures hold an intriguing space between solitude and community, tradition and modernity. She loves how the huts often form into villages, yet there are always outliers dotting the lake, choosing their own solitude. Aesthetically, Sarah became enamored with the visual contrast of pops of colour against the sharp clean white palette of snow. In 2023, she extended the dreamscape by creating her own whimsical huts to inhabit the lake.
