Aesculus glabra SE Iowa Source Unique fan-like foliage and large, handsome nuts make Ohio buckeye a great accent to a shady landscape. Trees grow well as a shade tree, and are ofte n found in natural understories. Specimens can be trained to multi-stem or single stem. This mid-size tree grows best in moist, well-drained soils with partial sun. Some leaf scorch can occur in full-sun. Trees are tolerant of alkaline soils.
