Cypress trees in the swamps and natural springs of Florida are fascinating. At first glance, there is a certain eeriness that permeates these swamps with the ghost look of the tress with the hanging Spanish moss and the occasional glimpse of an alligator or crocodile. That being said, this eeriness gives way to a certain unique beauty and sense of calm. I am drawn to the wonderful compositions within a swamps as the texture of these old trees is accentuated with the passing of the morning or late afternoon light. There is a zen-like feel to being alone in the quiet of a cypress swamp with the exception of what lurks below the surface. This image was captured in Ginnie Springs in High Springs, Florida. Looking at this photo, you can see the beautiful shapes and textures of the tree trunks. The morning light illuminates this scene in a beautiful way helping to create a wonderful composition.
